1972 BMW R75/5 SWB, Custom BRIGHT!!! Yellow paint; VERY Striking!!! Pair Color Match Wixom Saddlebags. Fresh 10K Service. Bike has been lowered.
Beautiful Vintage BMW! We have performed a BMW Factory Recomended Major (10K) Service, plus much more!
This Beautiful bright yellow BMW R75/5 has been lowered one and a half inches in front, and two inches plus a lowered seat on the rear, to make it more comfortable for a person with a shorter inseam to ride.
A New custom short Hagon shock was used on the rear, as well as a low profile tire.
The front forks have been rebuilt, and new steering neck bearings installed.
The motor was tuned and tested and is in very good condition and runs very nicely!
We found that the final drive splines were very worn, due to an improper procedure being used previously to service the rear wheel bearings, causing the wheel bearings to be loose in the wheel hub, vastly accelerating the wear of all the parts. We picked out a nice rear hub and installed new splines into it called a "Driving Dog". The final drive was removed and torn down, and a machinist welder up and re-machined like new drive splines on the Cardan gear. All seals were replaced, and the drive re-shimed to achieve proper gear backlash.
We polished a pair of original BMW rims with and laced then up with new stainless spokes. New tires were mounted.
The transmission was rebuilt by the previous owner, the clutch is in good condition, and the rear main seal and oil pump o'ring have been replaced.
During test riding the transmission started to act up. A clicking noise was noted and the first and third gears were problematic, the original rebuilt transmission was done by the previous owner. The transmission was replaced with a rebuilt transmission that we serviced ourselves and had in stock.
The bike is equipped with USA handlebars, and a Brown type sidestand. There are a pair of color matched Wixom Saddlebags included.
