SOLD...........1972 BMW R75/5 SWB Black 49,550 Mi. Fully Serviced VGC

This beautiful black Vintage 1972 BMW R75/5 SWB is very clean, fully serviced and ready to ride. SWB means Short Wheel Base. In 1973, BMW made both SWB, and LWB (Long Wheel Base) models. The bike has 49,550 miles, and is very original except for the /6 style mufflers and foot peg rubbers, which are both considered a proper replacement part by the BMW factory (those “ultra purists” out there could easily change those if they “just have to”). The nice paint, gleaming chrome battery covers, and Vintage style headlight / instrument assembly are just a few of the things that make this a bike you can really be proud to ride.

We have just completed the BMW Factory Major Service (10K), plus done much more. We de-carboned and inspected the heads and inspected cylinders and found them to be in very good condition. We completely re-sealed the motor, including installing a new rear main seal and oil pump o’ring. While we were there we cleaned and inspected the clutch, and lubed the clutch splines. We installed new front steering neck bearings, and rebuilt the front forks. We also rebuilt the carburetors. The Tach / Speedo instrument assembly was internally cleaned and serviced.

The bike is equipped with the larger 22 Liter fuel tank that is much in demand on this model. There is a tool tray, but no tool kit (new ones are still available). We rebuilt the petcocks and new original braided cloth covered fuel line was installed. All electrical parts are fully functional. We inspected, cleaned, and perfected many electrical connections to prevent future problems. It has a sealed battery, with new rubber battery straps.

There is a key for the seat lock. There is a minor chip in the porcelain on both the fuel tank badges; we typically fill these with gloss black paint to make them unnoticeable. The tires are only fair; good enough to ride on dry pavement, but not good enough for sport riding. If the buyer wants, we will mount and balance a new pair of Continental or Metzeler tires for an additional $250.00.

This bike would make an excellent and stylish daily commuter, or a weekend back roads tourer, or a bike to ride to a Bike Nite gathering or Vintage Bike Rally.
